The One Thing No One Ever Told Me About Being Engaged (Plus a Blogging Break Announcement)

Prior to being engaged, prior to dating Bryan, I'd watch engaged couples become insanely busy leading up to their wedding, and I thought all the busyness of the engagement season stemmed from planning a big wedding.   I never had a *dream wedding*  in my minds eye and I didn't plan what I wanted my wedding day to be like from the time I was 12.  My parents got married in a very simple ceremony at a state park overlooking a gorge (back before outdoor, adventurous weddings were popular) and I guess I just always imagined I'd do something simple + stress free as well.  And so, I thought that not planning a huge event would mean this season of engagement would be low key, not too busy, and completely free of stress.I. was. so. wrong. For the most part it has been stress free, but "not too busy" is a horse of a different color entirely....The thing I did not anticipate and that I've never heard anyone talk about, is how busy being in this season would be from a relationship perspective.  Currently, Bryan and I are preparing for marriage but still living with our own families.  We are endeavoring to spend time with both our family's on our own (maintaining and caring for the relationships we have with parents and siblings), and spend time with our family's together as a couple.  AND spend time connecting with each other one-on-one to continue to grow our relationship + plan for the future.  I'll be the first to admit I don't feel like I've done a very good job juggling it all so far (and I KNOW, I've let my friendships outside of family slide a lot).  If relationships were all we had to think about right now, it would still be busy, but not too bad.  BUT after individual work schedules + outside commitments get factored in, this season is the complete opposite of low key.Something's gotta give, and for me right now that has to be blogging and social media.  Posts here on the blog + in my newsfeed on IG will probably be few and far between (If not non-exsistant) over these next couple months of summer.  I'll probably be mostly hanging out in my stories over on IG because that is a nice, easy + fast method of sharing things with you all that doesn't require too much brain power. 😝I've still got lots to say and lots to share here on the blog, and I am SO looking forward to reaching a point where it's once again realistic for me to do so.  Until then, I'm gonna try my best to be present in this wonderful season of life, invest in the quickly shifting relationships around me, make my wedding dress, plan a karate camp and eat lot's of ice cream along the way!
