Easy Natural Hair Gel Recipe (Flaxseed Free)

Hey, hey, hey!  It’s been quite a while, and for that I apologize. Life takes us down all sorts of interesting twists and turns and it’s important to me to keep blogging it’s proper place.

Today, I’m sharing with you all an easy peasy recipe that has served me well every time I’ve used it.  And with only 3 ingredients (one is optional) it is not only easy, but cheap too.

Ingredients

1/2 cup water

1/4 tsp unflavored gelatin

5-6 drops essential oil (my current favorite is a combination of Lavender and Peppermint)

To Make

Heat water on stovetop and combine with gelatin stirring until the gelatin is completely dissolved.  Depending on how strong of a hold you want use less of more than 1/4 tsp;  I think 1/4 tsp produces a nice medium hold.  Add essential oil(s) if using, and pour into storage container before refrigerating.  It will take a few hours for the gelatin to set up before it is ready to use. Keep refrigerated for up to 2-3 weeks.

To Use

Use it just as you would store bought gel.  I currently use it to help coax the natural wave/curl out of my hair and apply it by scrunching it into my wet hair.  It works awesome!  Once my hair is dry I scrunch any crunchiness out.  It also works well to apply to hair before curling with an iron, or if doing overnight heatless curls.

Let me know if you have any questions or feedback if you try it!
